Knick Knack

Time:15minutes to 25minutes
Prep Time:None
Type:N/A
People:6people and more
Equipment:2random items (something that you can ‘hand-off’ to someone. Example: shoes, frisbee, tennis ball. Each object needs to be distictly different.)
Formation:Circle
Skills:Focus, memory
Description:Students are in a circle and you hold up the first item and ask if anyone knows what it is after they’ve guessed (unless they get it right) tell them that it’s a knick ( k-nick ) and that the second item is a knack (k-nack).

Hand the knick to the person on your right and say “This is a knick” the person is supposed to respond “A what?” to which you reply “A knick” to which the reply is “a knick” the second person then turns to the third person and says “this is a knick” to which the third person replies “a what?”. INSTEAD of answering the second person must turn to the leader after the third person has asked a what and must ask the leader “A what?” and the leader will respond “a knick” then the second person will say “a knick to the third” the third person does this to the fourth and so on. BEFORE anyone can tell the next person what it is they have to say “a what?” to the person on their left until it gets to the leader, who will tell the person on his right who will tell the person on their right, who will tell the person on their right, until it gets back to the person who originally asked “A what” WHEW! If you don’t understand I don’t blame you, the game is fun (believe it or not)

You play the knack part the same way except to the left the fun part of the game is when the items overlap.

Notes:
• Clarify that it is a focus game and it is important to do it clearly and quickly.
• Children had an attention span problem but, with patience in the explanation the game was a blast.
