Creator Ken's biography
At the age of 13, I volunteered at the Ottawa YM-YWCA. In the eight years there, I created their drama camp, saved the Ottawa Children’s festival, participated in the festival’s Board of Directors and learned that hard work can be fun when you are surrounded by great people.
Having been an only child for 15 years, I was surprised when the stork delivered two baby brothers at short intervals. This age gap gave me an opportunity to see my brothers grow and this experience inspired my career goals.
Young and ambitious, I decided that I would thoroughly enjoy working with children, making millions and showing off my city: I figured the best way to do this was by launching Visiting Children’s Recreation (VCR), a company that works with event and convention organizers to provide programs exclusively for children.
Shortly after that, I expanded my services to local community centres, teaching acting and video production.
Here we are, 26 years later. I am still working with children. No millions… but never a dull moment!
